It seems somewhere along the road I was misinformed. The rumors of Superiors demise have been vastly exaggerated. I was just informed by @mrmarkmillar himself that this arc of Superior is actually 7 issues long, with the 7th issue being double-sized and the book itself is an ongoing. I have updated my review to reflect the new info apologies for the mistake but good news for all you Superior fans out there!
Do you want to know what the worst thing about this book is? Nothing! Needless to say I'm a fan. Superior has become the target of hard headed, reporter Maddie Knox. Maddie set's her sights on getting the first exclusive interview with Superior, so much so that she fakes an accident to get him to rescue her. Cue the heroics and we have our first exclusive interview with Superior, although she seems more intent on exposing Simon than hearing what he has to say. As a last little surprise we get some more information on the motives of our not-so-friendly little space chimp. Seems he's an emissary for a much 'lower' power and has found his 'Lex Luthor' to Simon's Superior.
As Mark Millar's take on the Superman mythos you can clearly see his love for the source material shining through. Superior is a great book, Millar's writing is as brilliant as ever and his dialogue is witty and sharp. It's the most heartfelt and genuine book in the Millarworld stable right now in my opinion. He make's it clear here that he is setting up for the big finish by giving us a glimpse of the true villain behind the scenes and we get to see that having a real life Superior is not such a great thing for everyone. My only problem with this issue was the pacing, as you can see from my above addendum that's no longer the case. When I thought there was only 2 issues left I questioned how Millar could fit his awesome set up into those two measly issues. Nothing to worry about now people, just enjoy this sublime series. Yu's artwork is great and even if you aren't the biggest fan of Millar's writing any fan of Yu's work would be stupid to let that hold them back from at least taking a look here. Those people may be pleasantly surprised anyway as this is a different beast that Millar's other creator owned work.
