So I'm gonna be honest right off the bat, I didn't much like this issue. This is the conclusion of the 'I Rock you Suck' storyline and sees our old buddy Wade Wilson battling vampires to rescue the damsel in distress. Therein lies the problem. I wasn't exactly a fan of the whole 'Curse of the Mutants' schtick to begin with and seeing it pushed over to this book for no apparent rhyme or reason didn't sit well with me. I mean what's the point? Even the main event was over last month. It all just seems like filler.
So why did i still rate the book three stars? Simple, Way's writing is still excellent, even telling a story i have little to no interest in, he still has the ability to entertain me and make me laugh with his dialogue. The direction he has taken Deadpool in since the heroic age started has worked extremely well, that direction is still a little evident here with 'Pool trying to be the hero to save the girl. Dazo's pencil work is as good as ever, with the visual gags working just as well as the crisp dialogue and I really have no complaints about the work both guys have put in here. Like I said the only thing that stops me from really, really enjoying this issue is the lackluster story.
Going forward from this i have the utmost confidence that Way can rebound and get back on track with Deadpool's quest for heroism, well for a little while anyway. I for one cant wait to see what happens with Wilson when the Fear Itself event begins. Of course this is just my opinion and the whole point of me making this site was to share my opinion but never, ever, to flat out tell someone to stay away from something. So if you were a fan of the main vampire storyline told over in the X-men books this issue would be a perfect fit for you.
