The President of Fox Home Entertainment, Mike Dunn, took to the stage today at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas accompanied by non other than Darth Vader and his Imperial Stormtroopers to make the official announcement. Dunn said "The Star Wars Saga is the most anticipated Blu-Ray collection since the launch of the Hi-Def format" I for one am not gonna argue, with or without the grumpiest asthmatic Sith Lord in the galaxy by his side.
This will mark the first time that all 6 feature films will be included in one complete set on any format. The BD versions will drop in three distinct flavors and are scheduled for release in September but are availble to pre-order now. The three variations are:
Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-Ray (9 disc set)
Star Wars: Prequel Blu-Ray Trilogy (3 disc set)
Star Wars: Original Blu-Ray Trilogy (3 disc set)
The Complete Saga is set to retail for $139.99 in the US with the trilogy sets setting you back $69.99 a piece. Considering those extra 3 discs included with The Complete Saga have more than 30 hours of bonus material including deleted and alternate scenes it's a no brainer purchase for me.
